A U.S. television cartoon series, SpongeBob SquarePants, produced by Nickelodeon, is the leading children's animated television show in the world, The show first aired in Nicktoons in 1999 and has now grown to be one of the biggest animated series of all time. The series is all about the idyllic life of a sea sponge named SpongeBob Squarepants, who lives in Bikini Bottom, a storybook town on the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. The extremely large following that has evolved from the show has been nothing short of spectacular. The difference in the ages of the audience is not limited to any one demographic. This popularity has been the catalyst for thousands products advertising the SpongeBob character. These products range anywhere from action figures to children's pajamas. Imation Electronics Products in 2007, and under the brand of Npower, partnered with the franchise and introduced themed digital cameras, DVD players, and even flat screen televisions! SpongeBob SquarePants and Lego is one of the most talked about, and successful, merchandising partnerships in the world. These Lego sets have joined the ranks of other such esteemed Lego theme sets as Star Wars, Batman, Harry Potter and Indiana Jones!



Now being sold in most toy stores and online stores, Lego SpongeBob toy sets are among the fastest selling Lego toy building sets since the start of the millennium. These themed sets were introduced in 2006 along with two other themes: Lego Avatar: The Last Airbender sets and Lego Batman sets. The majority of the SpongeBob toy sets and minifigs were inspired by episodes from the last three seasons of the popular animated cartoons. Currently, not all of the Lego SpongeBob items not available in stores worldwide.

The Lego Build-A-Bob-Set is interesting as it actually allows the builder to take a peak inside SpongeBob's head. Plankton, who resides in the brain of SpongeBob, and is one of the supporting characters in the cartoon show, finds his place in this toy set. The actual SpongeBob mini-figure is over 11 inches tall and features plastic bubbles shooting out of his mouth while his round eyes are spinning wildly. There are 445 Lego pieces in the set that can be assembled in different ways by children. This set is recommended for children in the age range of 7-12 years old. Lego building sets boxes always come with a thorough guide or manual that shows three-dimensional diagrams for assembling the colorful and intricate collectible toys. Other sets are available that children can combine with the Build-A-Bob Set and include: The Krusty Krab, Chum Bucket, Mrs. Puff's Boating School and more. Released in January 2009, the two newest sets "Krusty Krab Adventures" and the "Good Neighbors in Bikini Bottom" are inspired by cartoon episodes aired in December 2008.
